Your first fights

Build on the tutorial with a practical routine for choosing enemies, attacking, collecting rewards, and recovering.

Start with what the tutorial taught you

You have already selected an enemy and used Attack. In the wider world, the next skill is deciding which fights to take and when to prepare before another one.

Use a simple loop: check your gear → choose a target → fight → collect → recover.

Check your equipment and health

Open your inventory and confirm that your weapon is equipped. Look at your defensive equipment and its condition, too. A new item sitting in your bag is not automatically part of your fighting setup.

Check your health before approaching an enemy. If you have healing available, read its requirements and use it when needed. Give yourself time to recover rather than starting every fight as soon as the last one ends.

Fight near a Healing Spruce when you can. Stand beneath its canopy so its healing aura can restore your health during the fight. This is especially helpful in your early encounters: bring a manageable enemy to the tree and stay within the healing area while attacking. Watch your health—an enemy can still deal damage faster than the tree heals you. Stay nearby afterward to recover before your next fight.

Choose a manageable target

Select a creature and read its details. Creatures differ in strength, behavior, and attacks. The tutorial’s Goblin Scavenger is a teaching encounter; other creatures will not necessarily behave like it.

For your first few fights, choose an encounter you can watch closely. Keep an eye on nearby creatures as well as your selected target, and avoid taking on several threats at once while learning.

The creature reference is available when you want to look up an enemy. You do not need to memorize a table before your first fight.

Select the enemy, then Attack

Choose Attack in the creature’s actions. You need to reach attack range before a hit can happen. Watch your character’s movement and the combat feedback, especially if you begin from farther away.

Keep watching both health bars. If the fight is going badly, move away and reassess. An enemy may pursue you, so moving away is not a promise of immediate safety.

If an attack does not start, check the target, distance, and any message the game gives you before trying again.

Collect and check the result

After the fight, look for items left on the ground and use Pick Up to collect them. Check your inventory for what you collected and your experience progress for any XP awarded.

Rewards vary by creature and encounter. Do not assume every enemy drops the same supplies as the tutorial goblin.

Prepare for the next fight

Check your health and equipment again. If a fight was difficult, change one thing before trying a similar encounter: recover, equip better protection, or choose a more manageable target.

For a closer comparison, use the weapon reference and damage reference. Start with the enemy you actually want to fight, then compare the relevant equipment.

Ready for the next chapter?

You should be able to choose an enemy, start a fight, collect its drops, and decide whether you are ready for another encounter. Next, use what you earn to grow stronger through experience, skills, and equipment.
