Gathering and your first craft
Gather Leather, collect Amber Resin, and craft a useful repair supply for your equipment.
Make something you can use
In the last chapter, you learned how Mending Resin repairs equipment. Now make a batch yourself. This introduces a useful crafting routine: choose a recipe → find its inputs → craft → check the result → use it.
Amber Resin is a material. Mending Resin is the finished repair supply. Collecting one does not automatically give you the other.
Check the recipe first
Open Crafting and inspect Mending Resin. You need Alchemy I, 2 Leather, and 1 Amber Resin for a base output of 5 Mending Resin. This recipe does not require a Forge or your own territory.
If the recipe is locked, return to Choosing your skills and check Alchemy’s requirements. Read the recipe before spending materials, and check the total input if you increase the batch quantity.
Gather Leather
Keep any Leather you have left from the tutorial. For more, hunt manageable creatures that can drop it, such as Goblins, Elk, Boars, or Wolves. Leather is not guaranteed from every kill.
Select dropped supplies and choose Pick Up, then check your inventory. Count what you actually collected rather than planning around an expected drop.
Use the routine from Your first fights: check your health, choose a suitable target, and recover between encounters.
Find an Amber Tree
Select an Amber Tree and inspect its available action. Move close enough to interact with it. What you do next depends on its state:
- Resin is ready: choose Collect Amber Resin and let the collection finish.
- The tree is untapped: install an Amber Tap Kit first, then collect when the action becomes available.
- The tree is recovering or someone is collecting: use the displayed state to decide whether to return later or find another tree.
Amber taps are shared. A ready tap can be used by other players, so finding a tree does not reserve its next harvest for you.
If you need an Amber Tap Kit
Inspect Amber Tap Kit in Crafting. One kit uses 2 Leather and 1 Wood, with no skill or workstation requirement. Use Wood you kept from the tutorial, or gather more by completing a tree’s chop action where available.
Craft the kit, check that it is in your inventory, then return to an untapped Amber Tree and choose Install Amber Tap. Installation consumes the kit. Collect the Amber Resin once the tree offers the collection action, and check your inventory after completion.
If you are starting without a kit or Amber Resin, budget 4 Leather and 1 Wood: two Leather for the kit and two for the Mending Resin recipe. The Amber Resin comes from the tree. If a shared tap is already ready, you can collect there without crafting a new kit.
Craft your Mending Resin
Once you have Alchemy I, two Leather, and at least one Amber Resin:
- Open the Mending Resin recipe in Crafting.
- Select a single craft and review its input and output quantities.
- Start the craft and follow its progress until it completes.
- Check your inventory for the finished Mending Resin and the materials used.
The recipe’s base output is five Mending Resin; applicable crafting bonuses can change the final amount. A queued or started craft is not the finished item—wait for completion before planning to use it.
Put the result to work
Open your inventory and select an eligible piece of worn equipment. Open its Resin repair action, choose how much Mending Resin to use, and review the condition change before confirming.
Check the equipment’s condition and your remaining Resin afterward. If your gear does not need repair, keep the supply for later. See Improving your equipment for the full repair walkthrough.
You have now followed a recipe from its inputs to a useful result. Keep this same habit for later crafts: check skills, materials, location requirements, and output before setting off to gather.

Your next milestone
Pick another recipe that serves a goal you have in the game. Make a material list, account for any tools or intermediate crafts, and leave room in your inventory for the result.
