Kingdom life
Find a kingdom, understand your role, and turn your individual progress into a useful contribution.
Find people to build with
By now you have routines for fighting, gathering, crafting, and exploring. A kingdom gives those activities a shared purpose: helping a group build and maintain its place in the world.
Start by joining a kingdom whose plans suit the way you want to play. Talk with its members about what they are working toward, whether they are involved in wars, and how a new member can help. You do not need to begin by founding or leading one yourself.
Request membership
Open Kingdom and choose Join. Search for the kingdom by name, check the result, and choose Request to join.
A request is not immediate membership. It appears under My Requests while the kingdom reviews it. You can use Cancel Request if you change your mind. The ruler or a member with permission to accept recruits must approve it.
Once accepted, check that the panel shows your kingdom and that you appear in Members. Read the kingdom’s status message and find out what the group needs before spending supplies on its behalf.
Learn your role
The Members tab shows the people in your kingdom. Your title and your permissions serve different purposes: a title names your role, while permissions control which kingdom actions you can perform.
The permission charter uses Denied, Allowed, and Grant. Grant lets a member pass that permission to others. Membership alone does not give access to every store, construction action, or leadership decision.
If an action is unavailable, read the permission message and speak with the ruler or an appropriate grant holder. Ask for the access needed for the work you agreed to do.
Make a first contribution
Choose one useful contribution with your kingdom: supplies for a planned project, a Treasury deposit, or gathering materials the group is short of. Start with something you can provide without exhausting your own repair and travel supplies.
Open Treasury to see the kingdom’s stores and what you carry. It supports Brick, Gold, Sapphire, and Mortar.
- Choose a resource you intend to contribute and select Deposit.
- Enter the amount, checking it against your available supply.
- Review and confirm the transfer.
- Check that your carried amount decreases and the kingdom store increases.
A Treasury deposit is a contribution to shared stores, not personal storage. Withdrawals require the appropriate permissions, and Mortar is deposit-only. Use your Manor’s Grand Storage for belongings you want to keep at home; review Building your first home if needed.
Understand carried bricks
Bricks have special kingdom rules. The ruler can levy a tax on members’ carried bricks, moving a portion into the kingdom store.
If you leave the kingdom or are removed, your carried bricks are forfeited to its store. Read the Leave Kingdom confirmation before accepting; it also ends your membership and title.
Keep these rules in mind when accepting or carrying bricks for a shared project. Ask how the kingdom intends to use them before treating them as supplies for your own plans.
Check the state of the realm
Visit Realm and read any notices about war, peace proposals, or leadership changes. These affect the group even when your main activity is gathering or crafting.
Wars have costs, including brick losses from deaths by enemy hands. Coordinate with your kingdom before joining its fighting, and understand your role before using any diplomatic action your permissions allow.
If you see a ruler election or succession notice, read its available actions and deadlines. The How Kingdoms Work help panel explains the kingdom’s rules when you need more detail.
Founding can come later
If you eventually want to lead, your kingdom begins at a Castle. The Join panel explains the path: craft a Castle on your territory, then select it to name the kingdom and choose its emblem. Inspect the current recipe and placement requirements before committing materials.
Founding also means taking responsibility for membership, permissions, shared stores, and the kingdom’s plans. Learn those systems as a member first if you want a gentler introduction.
Choose your next shared goal
You should now know how to request membership, find your role, and make a deliberate contribution. Agree on one goal with your kingdom and use the earlier guide chapters to work toward it.
That might mean gathering for a craft, preparing for a dungeon, or improving your equipment before helping in a fight. Return to the guide overview whenever you want to choose your next step, or use the reference library for a specific detail.
